O da Mısır'a göçen Saka Türklerinden gelir. [Prof.Dr.

"This was followed by the conquest of Sakas or Scythians and Kushans (120 BC - 200 AC). Scythian remains unearthed at Banbhore (the old port of Debal) indicate that they had advanced far to the south of Sind. Both Scythians and Kushans were of Turki origin and they conquest also..."

Sind a Historical Perspective By Dr Nabi Bakhsh Khan Baloch

- SB]

[Buddhism arose in Hindustan after the Turks had come there. Seekin the meaning of life, a certain man now known as Siddartha Gautama (Young prince of the Sakya people in what is now modern Nepal, born in the sixth century BC, known as the Buddha) came to the conclusion that Monotheism is impossible (apparently in a continuation of the spiritual dispute that originated in the Altai at that time)... The native Indians called Buddha Shakyamuni, which literally means 'Türkic God'. And the Turks called him Tanghri Burkhan, i.e. Tengri's Messenger. That's why he is sitll drawn with blue eyes, the same as all other Turks... In Nepal, near Rummindei, there is a column where the name of the founder of Buddhism is carved - the name of a human being from Shakya family who came from the North. The column was raised in the 3rd century BC. It marks the place where Buddha Shakyamuni, 'the sage from Shakya family' or the 'Turkic God' was born. The king Kanishka complemented the Buddha's image on coins with the incription 'Sakamano Boddho' and 'Bogo Boddho'. The first incription emphasized the belonging of Buddha to the Turks, and the second is translated as 'God Buddha'. That is to say that starting from the 1st century AD Buddha was identified with Tengri, which was logical for the Northern Hindustan and Middle East, which were absorbing the Altaic Culture."

*** " Anyhow, the early legends of Buddha's previous history seem to have been carried away to Cabul, as if he had lived there. *** "Troubled at the prospect that the Buddha's racial classification as Aryan might irrevocably align him with European civilization, Inoue* contended instead that the Buddha's tribe, the Sakyas, was actually a subgroup of the Scythians described in ancient Greek histories. These he linked to the Sai (Saka) tribe and the Yuezhi described in ancient Chinese records - meaning, he claimed, that the Buddha's people would be members not of the Aryan race, but of the Turanian. Conveniently, Inoue continued, the mixed race that had emerged on the Japanese archipelago in ancient times incorporated a large admixture of Turanian stock."

*** "Scythian Mauas", "Scythian Azaz" olarak bahseden Sir Alexander Cunningham (The Bhilsa Topes: Or, Buddhist Monuments of Central India.

Early gold coin of Kanishka I with Greek language legend and Helios. (c. 120 AD). Obverse: Kanishka standing, clad in heavy Kushan coat and long boots, flames emanating from shoulders, holding a standard in his left hand, and making a sacrifice over an altar: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΥΣ ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΝ ΚΑΝΗϷΚΟΥ Basileus Basileon Kanishkoy "[Coin] of Kanishka, king of kings". Reverse: Standing Helios, forming a benediction gesture with the right hand. ΗΛΙΟΣ Helios. Kanishka monogram (tamgha) to the left.

BASİL(-eus) is TURKİSH of ETYMOLOGY > BAŞ (head, leader) İL (country, land)

TAMGHA is TURKİSH of ETYMOLOGY >  TAMGA/DAMGA (mark, symbol)

"At the beginning of our area one of the Kushan leaders, who had the title YABGU, somewhere in Kabulistan region, and in southeast of Afghanistan seach the power and established a small domain, which soon became a kingdom. Inscripitons on the coins depict his rights. At first they called him Zaoou, which means leader in Greek [*], and YABGU in Turkic, in İranian [*], because there are different views on the origin of word of YABGU. Then called him a King, and King of Kings. So the history of the great Kushan State began with this person. his name was Kujula Kadphises."

Dr.Eduard Rtveladze, Academician, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Scientific Director of the Project, Chairperson of Scientific Council of World Scientific Society for Study, Preservation and Popularization of Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan.

[* ] Zaoou maybe a broken word of Yabgu, dialect maybe? Yabgu>Yauva>Zauva>Zaoou? Or of Heraus>Zaooy? But at first Yabgu is Turkish of etymology, also to be seen among Kassite Turks. So, it is not İranian! Because there was no İranian tribes at the time of Kassites (18th.12th BC) in Near East. Even among Hephthalites (Abdaly or White Hun-Turks) is the title YABGU to be seen, after Kushan-Turks. SB

*** The Kushan era marked an important stage in the history of Buddhism. This is explained by the fact that Sakas (in Greek sources known as Scythians) were directly related to the Shaky clan from the central part of northern India, in which the Buddha Shakyamuni was born (or Sakyamuni – literally translated as “the Sage of the Saka clan.”) Proof of this fact is the genetic testing of the direct descendants of this spiritual enlightener, conducted by Kazakh scientists during an expedition to Nepal. The processing and analysis of DNA test data were carried out by the Kazakh Company “Shejire DNA” and decoding was carried out in the USA, in the world-famous laboratory “Family Tree DNA.”

In addition, several indirect evidences were found to support this theory. These are artefacts where Sakas motifs can be traced. For example, the cult Buddhist Vajra object is reminiscent of the Adji sign denoting the deity Tengri.

Furthermore, while visiting Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka, I found that some words have similar meanings with the Kazakh language. For example, there are such words as “aga,” “ata,” “ana,” “apa,” “koke,” “tate,” which over time are pronounced with slight phonetic changes and perceived slightly new meanings. It is noteworthy that the peoples of these countries speak different languages and have different cultures and histories. From this, it follows that the unifying factor of these states is Buddhism and these words entered their languages with the arrival of the first Buddhists. Thus, part of the inhabitants of modern India and neighbouring countries that were part of the Kushan Kingdom, have a gene of the Steppe people, and they also adopted some words from the Sakas, who were the ancestors to the Turkic people. In this regard, I would like to share one interesting episode of my life. While waiting at the airport for boarding a flight, I saw how a Japanese Buddhist monk was located next to me, who, as it turned out, had been in Kazakhstan. We had a rather lively conversation, in which we also touched upon Buddhist themes. During the conversation, I talked about the “Golden Man” – a descendant of the Saka leader, whose grave was found in 1970 near the Kazakh city of Issyk. All his clothes, weapons, crown and jewellery were made of gold. This burial dates from the V-IV century BC. I noted that to date 5 such golden people have been found. Thus, the territory of Kazakhstan is the valley of the burial of Sakas Kings. In this context, I expressed the opinion that he and the Buddha may be close relations belonging to the same member of royal families of the Sakas, as the Buddha also came from a royal family. On the other hand, my interlocutor, dispelling all my doubts, replied: “in fact, it would be so.”

Budda is from Saka tribe, and Scythians/Sakas are not İranian, but Turkish tribe as the Kushans!.. This "İranian" deception must end !

Every culture matters, every culture deserve respect, but, twisting the history, falsifying with knowledge, who ever is doing, is wrong, and not acceptable! And don't say "don't give us a point of view of Turkish scholars", is just nonsensical! Who says that the Westerners are truthfully? We trust everyone who ever take pen in his/her hand, don't, because they do have the ability to lie according to their political views.  Because writing history, is partly based on the author's comments. So, we must read the history from both and from the third/fourt side. Stealing the heritage from another nation is committing a crime to that nation, humankind and history. Just like stealing the artifacts from a kurgan or ancient settlement.

Kushans are Turkish tribe. By the way, mostly use the word Turkic, but I don't, as I say before, again, Turkic is given name by the westerners, not us, ooo no... We do say Kazakh-Turk, Uzbek-Turk or Saka-Turk, (you get the idea), and not Kazakh-Turkic!

Every Turkish tribe knows that the Kushans are Turkish tribe, and not just the Turks from Türkiye, but also from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan or Azerbaijan. Because, Kushans are also known as Avar-Turks, or White Hun-Turks (Abdaly, Hephthalites). and they were known in İndia as Turushka! And everyone knows that Turushka is an other name for Turk.

About the inscription "Basileus"... It is %100 Turkish! First, -eus is not Greek of origin, and second, Basil < Baş-il, and the meaning is Baş=Head ; il=Country, State = The Head of the Country, i.e. the Leader, so in westerner point a King. The Greek alphabet doesn't have ş (sch), so they wrote as Bas instead of Baş. On a coin of Scythian King Sariakos (180 BC) wrote Basi Sari =  Leader Sarı, Kağan Sarı or King Sarı (Sarı is also Turkish (blond or yellow in every Turkish dialect). I'm writing at this moment in English, am I an English now?... Just like claiming today "Greek Yoghurt", as if there were a "Greek Yoghurt"!.. Yoghurt is %100 Turkish word and invention! Advertisement and mass media is important ofcourse, you can fool everyone!... Everything around us became political! Damn!...

Aryanlar - Türkler

Aryanlar tarihsel dilbilimin aksine Pers dilli halklardan değildi.

(MS 750-900)

ENG:

Contrary to the historical linguistics, they were not the peoples of the Iranian languages; on the contrary, according to the comparative scientific analysis of the ancient Chinese sources, the Arian language belonged to the Türkic-lingual ethnos. Their migration to the south in the middle of the 2nd millennium BC is well traced on the archeological material.

According to the information of the Sogdiologist M.Iskhakov, the ancient Turkic writing had numerous local versions. The ancient Turkic written monuments are found not only in Orkhon and Yenisei, but also in the Southern Siberia, in Mountain Altai, in Yakutia (i.e. Sakha), in the Ob and Irtysh river basins, from Mongolia to the Jeti-su, in the Talas valley, in Fergana valley, in the Kashkadarya oasis, in Kazakhstan steppes, Itil/Volga basin, in the Don river basin, in the Northern Caucasus, in the Kuban river basin, in Crimea, in Moldova, in Hungary and Bulgaria. The spread of the ancient Turkic writing to the basin of Danube testifies about a wide arena where in antiquity formed the Türkic historical, cultural, and sociopolitical space.

During the  Middle Age period, in connection with the advance of the Slavs in the Eastern Europe to the south, in the chain of Türkic ethnos formed relatively small gap, but in the Itil/Volga area, in the Northern Caucasus, in the northwestern Caspian sea area, in Crimea and Moldova, the Türkic-lingual peoples live till now. In the last millennium Bulgars, under an influence of the prevailing surrounding language, became Slavic-lingual (see the linguistic and historical analysis of P. Tzvetkov “Origin Of Bulgarians”). The Magyars, who belong to the Altai linguistic family, till now live on the banks of Danube (The Türkic component of the Hungarian language is a widely known and argued secret). A recognition of the Don - Kuban complex of written monuments as a variation of the Türkic writing does not leave any doubts of its attribution to the Türkic ethnos. In this respect is important the opinion of a known linguist A.M Scherbak, who came to a conclusion that “significant number of the Türkic writing samples found in the basin of Don, from Novocherkassk to Voronej, can be attributed as belonging to Besenyos (Badjinaks)” (750 - 900 AD).

Professor M.Ishakov, after studying the geographical area of ancient Turkic written monuments, came to a conclusion that distribution of Türkic writing along the thousand kilometers, in the valleys and oases of the Eurasian steppes, and emerging of several its local variations, cannot be geographically restricted only to the territory of the Mountain Altai, Eastern Turkestan, and Southern Siberia, because the finds of written monuments point that the Türkic-lingual tribes from the most ancient times were autochthonous population in all inner part of the Central Asia, from Yakutia in the east to Danube in the west, and from the Kipchak northern steppes to the southern Turan (Iskhakov, 2003, pp. 7-12) (Iskhakov D.M. Southeast Tatarstan: Problem of study the ethnic history of the region in the XIV-XVII centuries. / Elmet - Almetievsk. 2003 ?).

Unfortunately, in the historical science settled an opinion that Türkic-lingual tribes came there as “immigrants”, “conquerors”, “invaders”. This view has no scientific base. In reality, the migration took place in the most ancient and ancient history of our peoples. For example, during Bronze Epoch the migration of the ancient farmers was connected with a need for fertile lands, and migration of the nomadic tribes was connected with acquiring pastures for cattle.

However, these migrations did not prove that since most ancient times in the Middle Asia lived only Iranian-lingual tribes. Simultaneously, in these territories side by side also lived Türkic-lingual tribes and peoples. This historical truth is well traced on an archeological material since an Bronze Epoch.

The Aryan problem: new approaches and views
History of Uzbekistan in archeological and written sources
Tashkent 2005

Academician of the Uzbekistan Academy of Sciences Prof. A.Askarov addresses the controversial subject of the Arian phenomenon in conjunction with the Türkic history. The text is a double translation from the Uzbek to Russian, and then to English. Though some inaccuracies may result from incorrectly transmitted idiosyncrasies of the terms and grammar in the double translation, the gist of the matter and the logic of the arguments are loud and clear.

What Did They Claim?

What if, this became true instead of "Your" (you know who I meant!) thoughts?
After all it belonged to Our Ancestors !.. :

1)- "The clear evidence of Genesis is that the early population of Palestine was not Semitic but Turanian, and as we have lately found, allied to the populations of Khita class in the regions already cited " wrote Hyde Clarke (from Royal Historical Society - SB)

[PS: Khita is also the oldes name of Anatolia / Khita = Touran the Khatai = Hatti - SB]...

2)- "But the descendants of Shem were not the first civilizers of Babylonia. Those far-spreading tribes called by ethnologists Turanian had been beforehand" wrote Henry George Tomkins (a member of the society of Biblical Archaeology - SB)

3)- "The Turanian race is one of the oldes in the world and appears to have migrated at the same time as the Hamitic; it might even be possible to restore the chief features of an epoch, when the sons of Turan and of Cush alone occupied the greater part of Europe and Asia, whilst the Semites and the Arians had not yet left the regions which were the cradle of our species". wrote F. Lenormant. (French historian - SB)

4)- "The wonderfull system of writing, called from the shape of the ancestors, cuneiform, or wedge-shaped was invented by the original Turanian inhabitans of Babylonia."... and ..." It is generally supposed that Babylonia was peopled in early times by Turanian tribes (aalied to the Turks and Tatars) and that these were conquered and dispossessed by the Semites".. wrote George Smith (who worked for British Museum! - SB)

5)- "Abraham father's name was Azer, a Turk of origin", wrote Prof.Firudin Ağasıoğlu in his book "Tanrı Elçisi İbrahim"

6)- "The Turanian races were the first to people the world beyond the limits of the original cradle of mankind, in the valley of the Euphrates before the Semitic or Aryan races came there.... The Turanians were builders; the Semitic races never erected a building worthy of the name. When King Solomon decided to build the Temple at Jerusalem, he lead recourse to Turanians to take the lead in the work."... wrote Moses W.Redding ( Illustrated History of Freemasonry, Kessinger Publ.1997) + to this : "No Semitic and no Aryan ever built a tomb that could last a century or was worthy to remain so long."

(bknz.Firudin Celilov, Tanrı Elçisi İbrahim) (Kadim Türklerde Kut aynı zamanda "ruh"ve "can"demektir ve bu aynı manalarıyla hitit dilinede geçmiştir (bkz. Parthians - Turkmens - China

Wounded Parthian - 2nd c AD
The battle between the Romans and the Parthians
A large part of the reliefs from the Parthian monument was found by Austrian archaeologists in Ephesus Turkey from 1897 to 1901.
Is in Ephesus Museum-Vienna

If we ask what the ancient writers have left on record with respect to the Parthian nationality, we shall find, in the first place a general consensus that they were Scyths. "The Parthians" says Justin, in his "Epitome of Trogus Pompeius" "were a race of Scyths, who at a remote date separated themselves from the rest of the nation, and occupied the southern portion of the Chorasmian desert, whence they gradually made themselves masters of the mountain region adjoining it.""

Strabo adds to this that the particular Scyhtic tribe whereot they belonged was that of the Dahae; that their own proper and original name was Parni or Aparni; and that they had migrated at a remote period from the country to the north of the Palus Maeotis (Sea of Azov) , where they left the great mass of their fellowtribesmen.

Some time after this the theory was started that they were Scyths whom Sesostris , on his return from his supposes Scyhtian expedition, brought into asia and settled in the mountain tract sout-east of the Caspian.

We cannot put much faith in the details of any of these various statements, since in the first place, they are contradictory, and in the second they are most of them highly improbable. Sesostris, for instance, if there wver was such a king no more made an expedition into Scythia than into Lapland or Kamskatka. No Egyptian monarch ever penetrated further north than the mountain chains of Taurus and Niphates.

Arrian's story is a mere variant of the tale told to Herodotus and Diodorus, and believed by them of the planting of Scyhtian colonists in Colchis by the hypothetical Sesostris; and it is even more improbable since it makes the returning conqueror depart from his natural course and go a thousand miles out of his way, to plant for no purpose a colony in a region which he was never likely to visit again.

Strabo's migration tale is less incredible, since the tribes to the north of the Euxine and Caspian lived in a constant state of unrest and migratory movements on their part, far exceeding the supposed Parthian movement in the distance traversed, are among the most certain facts of ancient history. But it is diffucult to see what trustworthy authority Strabo could even suppose that he had for his assertions, since the migration of which he speaks must have taken place at least six hundred years before his own time, and migratory races rarely retain any tradition of their origin for so much as a century. Strabo , moreover admits it to be doubtful whether there ever were any Dahae among the Scyths of the Maeotis , and thus seems to cut the ground from under his own feet.

The utmost that can be safely gathered from these numerous and discrepant notices is the conculion that the Parthians were felt by the Greeks and Romans who first came into contact with them to be an alien nation, intruded among the Arian races of these parts, having their congeners in the great steppe country which lay north of the Black Sea, the Caucasus, the Caspian and the Oxus river.

These nations wre nomadic, uncivilises, coarse, not to any brutal, in their habits; of a type very much inferior to that of the races which inhabited the more southern regions, felt by them to be barbarians, and feared as a continual menace to their prosperity and civilisation. There is always an underlying idea of dispraise and disparagement whenever a Greek or a Roman calls any race , or people, or custom "Scythic" - the term connotes rudenss, grossness, absence of culture and refinement - it is not perhaps strictly ethnic, since it designates a life rather than a descent, habits rather than blood - but it points to such a life and such habits as have from the remotest antiquity prevailed, and as still prevail, in the vast plain country which extend from the Caucasus, the Caspian and the mountain chains of the Central Asian regions to the shores of the great Arctic Sea.

It is certain that the inhabitants of this tract have belonged , from a remote antiquity, to the ethnic family generally known as Turanian. In the south they are of the Tatar or Turkish type; in the north of the Finnish or Samoeidic.

Their language is agglutinate and wanting in inflections; their physique is weak, languid, anaemic, unmuccular ; they have large fleshy bodies, loose joints, soft swollen bellies, and scanthy hair. They live chiefly on horseback or in wagons. Still as enemies, they are far from contemptible. Admirable horseman, often skilled archers, accustomed to a severe climate and to exposure in all weathers; they have proved formidable foes to many warlike nations, and still give serious trouble to their Russian masters.

The Scythian character of the Parthians , vouched for on all hands, and their derivation from Upper Asia, or the regions beyond the Oxus, furnish a strong presumption of their belonging to the Turanian family of nations.
This presumption is strengthened by the little that we know of their language. Their names, when not distinctly Persian, which they would often naturally be from conscious and intentional imitation, are decidedly non-Arian and have certain Turanian characteristics.

"the Parthians were a Scythian people, is accepted by everybody today, cf. Colledge (1967) and was shown on Sumerian background by Badiny (1998, 1999). ... From all these identifications it follows together with our proof presented here in EDH-5 that there is a genetical linguistic relationships of Sumerians, Huns, Avars, Scythians, Medes, Parthians and probably more people and a geographical continuity of Sumerians, Huns, Scythians and Avars in the Carpathian basin."

+ "Prehistorically, the Sumerians were not aboriginal to Mesopotamia. Their native hearth is unknown. Speaking an agglutinative tongue showing affinities, on one hand, with the Uralo-Altaic languages such as Balto-Finnish, Hungarian, Volgaic, Uralien, Samoyuedic, Turkish, Mongolian, and Eskimo, and, on the other hand, with the Dravidian tounges of India, the Pelasgian of pre-Homeric Greece, Georgian of the Caucasus, and Basque of the Pyrenes, they had arrived apparently c.3500 BC to find the river lands already occupied by an advanced Neolithic, farming and cattle-raising population known to science as the Ubaidian (also, Proto-Euphratean) who as Kramer tells, were "the first important civilizing force in ancient Sumer, its first farmers, cultivators, cattle-raisers, and fishermen: its first weavers, leather-workers, carpenters, smiths, potters and masons." - page 122. Joseph Campbell, The Mythic Dimension.

+ "The Sumerians were a non-Semitic, non-IndoEuropean people" - Samuel N.Kramer

+ Professor Osman Nedim Tuna, matched 165 Sumerian words with modern Turkish words based on meaning and phonetics. He presented this thesis in a congress in America, it was accepted by the Sumerologists and Turkologists that attented to it without a debate. Olcas Suleyman (Az i ya), a Kazak Turk, found 60 words, and say " Old world doesn't begins with İndo-European language, begins with Turkish language". F.Hommel compared Sumerian-Turkish language, and consider as Altaic language. Begmyrat Gerey, a Turkmen Turk, show us that Sumerians motherland is Anau, and spoke Turkish, like the Parthians, who is the ancestor of Turkmenistan people, in his book "5000 years Sumer-Turkmen connection".

Well-known sinologist Yu.A.Zuev pays particular attention to the influence of the Turkish factor in the history of China. For instance, Han dynasty (Early Chzhao, 304-328 A.D.) was founded by Huns, and Late Chzhao dynasty (319-325) by Kangly (Abulgazi, the 17 century historian and author of the Genealogy of Turkmens, lists Kangly among Oghuz-Turkmen tribes), the Western Qin dynasty (388-431) by early Turks, the Late Tang dynasty (923-956) by the Oghuz tribe Shato. With the help of Turkic tribes, a Chinese Turk, Li Yuan, ascended the Chinese throne. He founded the Tang dynasty in 618 A.D. (during the court ceremonies the Oghuz ambassadors were sitting next to the Emperor).

Under Li Yuan the Chinese-Turkic dictionary was compiled. Unfortunately, it hasn't reached our times. Over 10 thousand Oghuz families resettled in Chang'an (present-day Xi'an). Under the influence of Oghuz and Kipchak tribes the fashion on everything Turkic music, clothing and weapons emerged in the 7 century. It is also known that in the mid 8 century An Lushan from the Oghuz Ashin family commanded the Chinese regular army. In 756-757, he even ruled the country. It is not by chance that Gok-Turk Empire (the 6-8 centuries) maintained wide diplomatic relations with China. When in 545 Bumyn Khan declared the birth of an independent state, the Chinese were the first to send the embassy to the ancient Turks, having recognized the early medieval Turkmen state. The following year, Bumyn's embassy arrived in Chang'an and the union was formed. The ancient Chinese sources play the most important role in restoration of the history of Turkmens. Such Chinese authors as Ban Gu, Phan E, Li Yanshow, Sima Qian, who was dubbed "Herodotus of the East", and many others provided us the truly invaluable information on the history of Turkmen ancestors Parthians, Khorezmians, Massagets, Ephtalites and Kushans".

Indeed, the Chinese historical literature contains lots of factual information on the history of Turkmens and other Turkic nations, since China was also developing together with them during dozens of centuries. The Chinese ancient and medieval sources help recreate the whole picture of the historical development of Turkmens, depict their life in the different stages of development. In a number of cases, nothing can compensate these sources. There are so many historical chronicles written in complicated hieroglyphs and containing valuable data on the history of Turkmens that the Turkmen scholars have to study. The information taken from Chinese encyclopedia "Tun-dian" (the 8 century), where the name of the country "to-ku-mong" (i.e. Turkmenistan) located in the lands of ancient Turanians Massagets was written down for the first time, is extremely precious.

These visits marked the beginning of the Silk Road, in the formation of which the Parthians, ancestors of Turkmens, and the Chinese played the most important role. Academician V.V. Bartold wrote: "The Parthians were the best ones to make advantage of the caravan route from China to the Front Asia opened in II century BC. They benefited from mediating in the trade between China and the Roman Empire... Mithridates II of Parthia (124-87 BC) was the first king in the world history who maintained good relations with both the great power of the Far East [China] and the global empire of the West [the Roman Empire]".

Ovez GUNDOGDIEV, Head of the department of archeology and ethnography of the State Institute of Cultural Heritage of Turkmenistan, Central Asia and East at the Turkmen President, told "Turkmenistan" magazine of the results of the two month expedition "Akdepe, a big hill (depe), is located at Bikrova settlement, in the south-west of Ashgabat. The lower layers of this unique memorial date back to the fifth millennium B.C., and the upper ones to the late middle ages. In the past, it was believed that people deserted the main center of Akdepe as early as in Bronze Age, i.e. in the second millennia BC, and the medieval city emerged to the north and north-west of the hill. However, the excavations have proved that in the X-XI centuries, i.e. thousand years ago, the life still went on here.

There are all grounds to assert that the town in the location of contemporary Ashgabat and its outskirts was founded during the emergence of the Parthian Empire. It was a chain of fortresses (about 20 settlements) connected with the single system of defense and administration. Akdepe is one of such settlements situated at the Ashgabat stream. This "White hill" attracted our attention by the fact that all cultural layers, from the V millennium BC to the XVII century AD can be found there. In fact, the whole history of Ashgabat can be "read" in Akdepe.

Last summer, the Special Committee that met for several days during the XXXI session of the World Heritage Commission held in Christchurch (New Zealand) announced Nisa, an ancient Parthian city in outskirts of Ashgabat, an object of "the outstanding world importance and universal value".

The press release disseminated by the Committee says that Nisa's archeological remains vividly illustrate the high level of interaction of cultures of Central Asia and the Mediterranean world in once mighty Parthia. In the heyday of its glory the state was an insurmountable obstacle for the Ancient Rome's expansion and at the same time served as an important trade center between the East and the West, the North and the South.
