"ABD Vatandaşı" Schliemann ve 178 adet Turova Buluntusu;
1893 yılında Madam Schliemann eşinin ölümünden önce, evlat edinildiği ülkesini hatırladığını ve ona duyduğu saygının bir göstergesi olarak, ABD'ye verilmesi gerektiğini belirttiği objelerden oluşan bir koleksiyonu ABD Ulusal Müzesi'ne teslim eder. Bir Amerikan vatandaşı olduğunu hiçbir zaman unutmayan "Schliemann" ölüme hazırlanırken, bahsi geçen şekilde teşekkürlerini sunar. Koleksiyonun tamamı antik Turova'dan tam 178 objeden oluşuyor. Bu koleksiyon Tarih Öncesi Antropoloji Bölümü'nde bulunmakta. Bu koleksiyonun içinde yüzünde üç adet gamalı haçı olan bir ağırşak bulunmakta (şekil 71). Turova IV'e ait olan bu ağırşak 13,1/2 feet (4 metre) derinlikte bulunmuş.

NOT: Schliemann'ın yurtdışına kaç parça eser kaçırdığı tam olarak bilinmemekle birlikte, yukarıdaki metinde 178 parçanın ABD'ye götürüldüğü ve "hibe" edildiği ortadadır. Bu 178 parçanın (Turova IV - fig.71 ve 126 dışında) ne olduğunu maalesef bilmiyoruz. - SB
"US Citizen" Schliemann and 178 Troy Finds;
In 1893, before her husband's death, Madame Schliemann delivered to the US National Museum a collection of objects that she stated should be given to the USA as a sign of her respect and remembrance of her adopted country. "Schliemann", who never forgot that he was an American citizen, expressed his thanks in the aforementioned manner as he prepared to die. The entire collection consists of 178 objects from ancient Troy. This collection is housed in the Department of Prehistoric Anthropology. The collection includes a spindle whorl with three swastikas on its face (fig. 71). This spindle whorl from Troy IV was found at a depth of 13.1/2 feet (4 metres).

NOTE: Although it is not known exactly how many artefacts Schliemann smuggled abroad, it is clear from the text above that 178 pieces were taken to the USA and "donated". Unfortunately, we do not know what happened to these 178 pieces (except Troy IV - fig.71 and 126). - SB
